Reuse, recycle and eliminate plastic bags
Plastic bags are convenient, and though free, they are exacting a high price on our environment. Plastic of all kinds, but notably plastic bags, find their way into rivers, lakes and oceans, into the mouths of marine life, and eventually, on your plate of seafood.
Breaking the plastic bag habit is easy. Show thoughtfulness for marine life – and the health of mankind – by forming new habits:
1. Begin by saving every plastic bag you carry home and reuse them for your next shopping trip. You can also reuse them to line small waste bins in your home, rather than purchasing small garbage bags.
2. Next, recycle excess plastic bags. If your neighborhood waste removal service does not offer recycling for plastic bags, you may find a plastic bag recycling deposit box at your local Wal-Mart.
3. Take the final step by eliminating plastic bags. Purchase reusable shopping bags, and keep them in your car so you won't forget.
