Don't let holiday wrappings become trappings

The month of December, for adults, can mean a lot of stress and rushing around to pull off another "magical" holiday season. So it's tempting to go the easy route and pick up wrapping supplies at a convenient location or the lowest price.
The following ideas are earth-easy alternatives, which are just as easy, more economical, and/or better choices in the long run.
Classic: Save a month of Sunday comics. Or whistle "My Favorite Things" as you wrap brown (recycled) packages tied up with (hemp) string.
Crafty: The kids will love to help you make wrapping paper. Make potato stamps by carving shapes in the end of a halved potato. Using natural dye ink pads, stamp a pattern on plain or brown recycled paper.
Practical: Wrap gifts in sheets, towels, or blankets. It may be harder on your holiday budget, but at least you can use them rather than throw them away.
Reusable: Gift bags and boxes drastically cut down wrapping time, and can be reused many times over.
