Help your company go green

Save corporate waste from the landfill
Although some companies have taken steps to recycle, a majority still struggle with the problems of getting rid of leftover materials.
If you saw what some companies are forced to throw out, it could make you cry. Companies are "forced" because other options are not available, or too expensive. It may be illegal for your employer to sell at a discount or give away leftover materials.
But if you notice usable items in the dumpster that won't compromise the company's privacy, you might be able to facilitate a change. Leftover building materials can be donated to Habitat for Humanity, for instance.
Before you approach your employer, research the options. Can a charity or salvage company be there when your employer needs the materials removed? Will the company save or spend money to change procedures?
Then present your findings to a superior you trust, pointing out how this could improve the company's image. Point to other companies who have begun programs, and how they work.
Your position allows you some influence, and provided you go about it diplomatically, this could be the greenest difference you make in your life.
