Park in the shade

By mr-eco

Parking in the shade will obviously keep the temperature cooler inside the car than parking in direct sunlight, but there is another benefit as well.

Parking in the shade can also save fuel. Fuel evaporates from your gas tank more quickly when you park in direct sunlight than when you park in the shade.

If shade parking is not a viable option, try to at least park with your gas tank facing away from the sun to minimize evaporation of fuel as a result of direct sunlight.

So, if you spot a parking spot in the shade, go for it (even if it is a farther walk). Not only can you save gas by not having to blast the air conditioning when you return to the car, but you can also reduce gas evaporation from your tank.
